Is an emeritus research fellow at the Tampere Peace Research Institute (TAPRI), University of Tampere. He holds MA from the University of Helsinki in 1967 and he has worked as a teacher and research fellow at the University of Tampere and TAPRI ever since. Mr Vesa has solid background in international relations studies and peace research, including development issues, peacekeeping and crisis management. He has served as the President of the European Peace Research Association in 2000-2004 and of the Finnish Peace Research Association for several terms. Mr Vesa has participated four times in the UN General Assembly sessions as a member of the Finnish delegation. Mr Vesa has worked for a number of evaluation missions commissioned by the Finnish Foreign Ministry and the UNDP. He has served as managing editor.
